Jacob's Pillow: APPLICATION DEADLINE for 2021-2022 Curriculum In Motion Institute
Monday, May 03, 2021, 11:59 PM until 11:59 PM
Registration is not Required
2021-2022 CURRICULUM IN MOTION INSTITUTE
A Dance-Makers’ Think Tank
(May 3: Application deadline; June 2: Application status notification)
Engage in a year-long online institute with a network of fellow choreographers facilitated by core faculty: Celeste Miller (Institute Director), Kimberli Boyd, and Michael Richter.
ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS: How does our work as dance-makers position us as essential artistic, civic, and community partners in a COVID-19 world and beyond? How might we use this historic moment to engage ourselves in understanding what it means to be essential?
The Institute is a training program in the Curriculum in Motion® method: a co-creative workshop/residency model applying choreographers’ methods to the curriculum, question, issue or theme of a community partner. We use body-based practices to work with the Curriculum in Motion® pedagogy for integration between our art, values and our place in the world. With its roots in over 25 years of application with community partners, Curriculum in Motion artists have partnered with K-12 schools, museums, after-school programs, non-profits, medical groups, businesses and civic planners.
Curriculum in Motion®, founded in 1993 by Celeste Miller and “J.R.” Glover, is an artist-driven methodology that applies the creative practices of our discipline toward building a more just and humane world.
Curriculum in Motion® embraces dance as an accessible, complex system of physical, mental, emotional, creative, and spiritual processes rooted in body-based intelligence. Dance for Every Body is at the heart of Curriculum in Motion®.
